Pagsanjan – The Famous Pagsanjan Waterfalls! (South of Manila)

The Pagsanjan Waterfall is located within Laguna, and it is one of the most preserved sites in the southern Manila area. This is the location where the movie “Apocalypse Now” with Marlon Brando was filmed. Vast rice fields and coconut plantations can be seen along the way.

Boat Ride

At a certain point, we will switch to boats called “banca,” similar to canoes, and from there, we will continue towards the waterfall. From the beginning of the boat ride, you can enjoy lush greenery and rugged cliffs along the way, which are adorned with vegetation. At the end of the journey along the river, we will reach the grand waterfall, where you will transfer to a raft so you can enjoy an entrance beneath the waterfall and venture behind it into a hidden cave.

On the way back to the starting point, the skilled boatman, known as “bangkero,” will skillfully navigate through the rocks and obstacles, making it seem like a deer gracefully maneuvering its way between the cliffs and challenges on its journey back to the destination.

What to bring with you?

An airtight bag for personal items, a camera, and items sensitive to water.
Sunscreen (the boat ride lasts about 45 minutes each way)
A hat
Change of clothes (including underwear, as the boat ride in small canoes may result in getting wet)

If you are interested in entering under the Pagsanjan Waterfalls, you will need to leave your personal belongings with the boatman or alternatively, securely seal them in a high-quality plastic bag and take it with you.

When it comes to tipping the local staff at the waterfalls, it’s important to be considerate. Sometimes, the local staff may request more, but you should give according to your discretion and inform them that the tip will be provided at the end of the ride.
