Next, visit the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Monument and continue to the well-preserved city that served as the Spanish colonial seat of power 300 years ago.
Explore the historical fortification and stone-paved streets leading to San Agustin. It is the oldest stone church in the Philippines and a UNESCO heritage site. The church also houses its own museum featuring historical and religious artworks of great value.
The tour will proceed to the Manila Cathedral, an impressive structure made of adobe, mosaic glass, and adorned with rose windows. Additionally, you will visit the San Luis District: a complex of 19th-century houses that have been rebuilt to depict the lifestyles of the Filipinos during the 19th century.
Cross the street to Casa Manila, a museum that recreates life during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the old residence of the Spanish Governor-General (the President) during the Spanish colonial era, which now serves as the main building of the Philippine Land Bank.
The walking tour will also pass through Fort Santiago, originally built in 1571 for the Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. Fort Santiago, or Fuerza de Santiago, is the oldest Spanish fort in the Philippines and a key attraction within the walled city of Manila.
The tour also includes Bahay Tsinoy and finally, the famous Chinese Cemetery known for its grand mausoleums, a fascinating blend of various religious elements. On the way back, you will pass through Roxas Boulevard alongside Manila Bay.
Lastly, we will take you to the most modern area of the metropolis, Makati, the country’s financial and commercial center. We will pass through the upscale residential area in Forbes Park, known as the Millionaires’ Row.
