Firefly Kayak Tour
Kayaking trip by the light of the fireflies in Bohol Island is one of the select, interesting, and colorful trips that Bohol has to offer. Although it is a roughly 4-hour evening trip, you won’t forget this experience for a long time.
This is a somewhat challenging trip that starts in the early evening while there is still daylight, and during the trip, you enter the darkness. Paddling on the tranquil river is magical and feels like it’s taken from a movie.
During the kayak trip, you’ll experience paddling on a calm river, hear the chirping of crickets and the paddles. It’s the perfect time for such a tour. This tour is suitable for couples, families, and even people who are not accustomed to strenuous kayaking since it’s relatively easy and slow-paced.
The tour will start in the late afternoon, just before sunset. During these hours, being on the river is like being in a painting, with the calm waters, the reflections on the river, and the lush vegetation on both sides of the riverbanks. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about life along the river and see people living by the riverbanks before the fireflies come out.
Just before sunset, there will be a short visit to the Mangroves area, where you will see more than 20 species of mangroves that are estimated to be over 100 years old.
Each kayaking trip is accompanied by a professional guide with special certifications for such tours, adhering to strict standards.
After sunset, around 19:00-19:30, you’ll witness a breathtaking spectacle. Thousands of fireflies will light up the trees along the river, and they may even fly above you or nearby. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
